l'ultimo viaggio: costa concordia (2014)

The final days of an ordeal that began on the evening of January 13, 2012, when the Costa Concordia leaned a little too far—so far that it lost its balance, causing the deaths of 32 people, or 33, counting the diver who died in February 2014.

On July 23, 2014, the carcass of the Costa Concordia left the island of Giglio, towed by two ocean-going tugboats.
For Giglio, it was a morning of liberation—horns blaring and tears flowing to mark the beginning of the ship’s final voyage. Tears of joy for many, tinged with sadness for some. After all, it had also been two and a half years of high season—for both workers and the merely curious.

The Costa Concordia reached the port of Genoa after about four days of navigation.
